True fascism is nationalistic, i.e. doing what is in the best interest of the state. If this were the case in the U.S. the current depression that we’re in would not exist. The best label that I have come across to describe what the current political system is in America is corporatocracy.

Obama’s (and Bush’s for that matter) brand of socialism is particularly insidious- privatise the profits and socialize the losses (banker bailout schemes); and this corporatist economic ideology at the expense of the taxpayer can also be labelled fascism- look up the definition of fascism – there is always a corporate ideology to it.
socialism and fascism are total opposite ends of the spectrum, you can’t say either about him. Plus Obama’s policies are on neither end. His health care reforms are the most capitalist form of universal health care I’ve ever heard of. I don’t necessarily support President Obama, but i definitely don’t support ignorance. Opening a history textbook is not elitist.
