How easy is it to detect female posters from male posters?
I've had many posters on here mistake me for being a man, although I never understood why.
What are the 'give-aways' on here?

It's your avatar. They pay more attention to that than the fact your name is Missy. I think both of mine are somewhat gender neutral. I'm a polar bear!

I’ve had a few male accounts before, and everyone thought they were male it seemed…
Just talk like you are brimming with confidence if you are a man, and most people will buy it.
It’s not easy at all for me,so I just take people as what they say they are. I get mistaken for a dude all the time, and I don’t know if it’s my avatar or what. I care more about what people say than what they have hanging between their legs anyway.
I think its the fact that you speak out against feminism, same as Crazy Cat.
I would assume men who constantly call out other men would be viewed similarly.
I don’t bother, I’m not trying to connect these posters to the people behind them. I’m in it for the ideas.
Before I put an avatar on mine…I was constantly being called an “arrogant man”
Probably because I don’t like women who use the fact that they have a vagina to get their way.
Some people it’s pretty easy to tell, if women are always evil…they’re a man. If men are always evil…they’re a woman.
That’s not always the case though.
I think some people think they can tell when someone displays an opinion that’s not typical of their apparent gender, but really all people are different. No hard rule exists, so really there is no way to guess sex or gender on the Internet,
Some people’s gender SEEMS to come through in their writing, but I think it’s very hit or miss.
I think some tend to associate certain traits with gender, even in writing. The majority of your posts are well thought out, articulate, and sometimes your answers even come off as hostile in their straightforwardness. To me, those traits aren’t gender specific. To some, those traits would wrongly shout “male!”
I have been confused before too, with certain users. I have wrongly assumed that someone who is more friendly or caring is female. That is not the case! As I said, most traits aren’t gender specific, and as time progresses that existing gap closes. I think this confuses some people more comfortable with ‘gender norms’.
